Top 10: Pokemon who need Mega Evolutions

I got the new Pokemon game last weekend, and I'm really enjoying it.  However the one problem I found with it is the lack of new Pokemon, most are from older games, but their is one new feature that I am really enjoying...Mega Evolutions.  With Mega Evolution Pokemon now have an advantage over their wild brethren, and the right Mega can change the course of a battle.  The only drawback is the Megas end up drawing too much attention and keep you from using some other valid options.  So I decided to make a list of Pokemon that deserve Mega Evolutions in the next generation of Pokemon (or upcoming events and free updates, please Nintentdo).

10) Eevee

Eevee is the evolution Pokemon, and eventually will have a form for every type in the Pokemon world (Still waiting on my Steel type).  However a normal type evolution may not be the best route, a Mega evolution for its original form would make it as powerful as the rest, without the need to come up with a gimmick to evolve it.

9) The weaker Legendary Pokemon

Every generation their are the insanely powerful legends like Mewtwo, Lugia, Dialga, and Reshiram.  But their are even more that are weaker like the Bird trio, the beasts, Deoxys, and even Mew.  The real insult to these guys however is their is a subclass of Pokemon known as Pseudo-legendary; these are Pokemon  you can catch more than 1 of,  are not banned from official tournaments, and are just as powerful as the weaker legiondaries.  It get worse now that Tyranatar, one of these pseudo-legendary Pokemon can mega evolve, making him more Powerful than about 90% of all Pokemon.

8) Dragonite

For those of you like me you may be wondering why an elegant blue serpent dragon evolves into Barney's retarded cousin.  A Mega evolution may be the perfect way to fix this, make him more like his previous forms while still retaining the appearance of an evolution.  Plus if you look at the evolutionary line for this guy, he would be perfect to combine the dragon and fairy types, making a dragon that Jigglypuff cannot destroy.

7) Any Bird Type

In Pokemon Fly is quite possibly the most useful of the HMs, thus you are forced to always keep a bird on your team that knows the move, the catch? Most of them suck.  Sure there are exceptions like Braviary and Pigeot.  But wouldn't it be great if one of these birds could evolve into something more useful?  The same thing goes for Surf but I'll get to that one later.

6) Porygon Z

Porygon is an artificially made Pokemon, much like Mewtwo and Genesect.  But Mewtwo already gets a Mega form and Genesect is covered under my weaker Pokemon  so that leaves this guy.  Porygon is man made, and to be honest once he reaches the final stage is quite powerful.  But because he is artificial I feel it only makes sense that he gets a mega form.  Think about it he is simply data, so why not have a code in him somewhere that allows him to mega evolve?

5) Snorlax & Sudowoodo

The reason I picked these two is simple, there's not a lot of them, usually just 1 or 2 in each generation.  This means you usually had 1 shot to catch them or else you could never finish your Pokedex.  In fact up until a year ago my brother was convinced they were legendary Pokemon because of how rare they seemed to be in the games.  Alithough if I had to choose 1, then I'd go with Snorlax just because the thing is so cool.

4) Pokemon that Don't evolve

Up until you defeat the Elite Four and can go after the powerful legendary Pokemon your strategy is fairly simple, capture a pokemon and evolve it to it's final form to dominate in battle.  But what about the Pokemon who don't evolve?  Originally I was just going to put Lapras, but I then realized it can hold its own, unlike others like Corsola.  Plus if they don't evolve, what's the point of training them? thus they often end up in your PC never to be used again.

3) The rest of the trade evolvers

X and Y gave us Mega evolutions that required us to work with a friend to achieve.  The problem is, what about the physical Pokemon Machamp and Golem.  As a child some of the coolest Pokemon required me and my friends to all get together and pool our resources to get.  Best of all there was one for everybody's preference, want a strong defense? use a Golem; want to attack mercilessly? how about Machamp.  Fast forward to today and the only friend I have that plays Pokemon lives 300 miles away, so getting these Pokemon is even more of an accomplishment then when someone to trade with was a short bike ride away.  So why not make them all worth having and give us mega evolutions for them.

2) Raichu

A Little explanation on this one, Pikachu has been the mascot for the Pokemon franchise since the beginning.  Therefore it makes sense for him to get a mega evolution.  However Pikachu already evolves into Raichu, so instead give one to him.  The first Pokemon game I ever owned was Yellow version, so Pikachu was my first ever Pokemon, in Yellow Pikachu had the ability to learn Surf, turning his only weakness into a strength.  I lent my Pikachu to a friend to help him beat the elite four and learned he could be evolved so long as he was in someone else's game.  Thus Raichu holds a special place in my heart as the first Pokemon I ever owned, and in X I have one in my team because of how devastating it is to Water types.  Plus giving him a mega evolution kinda ties in with the next list number.

1) The Rest of the Starters

In X and Y we get a new starter, one that I really liked, but then I got a Torchic from Mystery Gift, and then a Charmander from the Prof, and guess what: those two Mega evolve.  Thus my new starter ended up taking a backseat because he simply couldn't compete.  The starters are the Pokemon that you choose at the beginning of any Pokemon game and are supposed to be your partner throughout your journey.  With that logic it only makes sense that they ALL get a new form that is based on the personal bond you have with a Pokemon (at least that's how Mega Evolution is explained in the games).  I chose to start with Fennekin, and in doing so screwed myself with a massive water weakness by having 3 different fire type starters, so why make it worse by making Delphox a weaker option than the others.

Agree with my list? disagree? feel free to leave a comment below, I'm interested to hear what Pokemon you all feel deserve Mega evolutions.

Top 10: Supervillains

I already did a top 10 Superheroes, so I thought it was only natural that I did the Supervillains next.  Please keep in mind this is my list, and therefore is based entirely on opinion.  So without further delay; here is the list.

10. Darkseid

Starting off this list is Darkseid.  No matter the medium, if Darkseid shows up; crap hits the fan.  Ruling over a planet called Apokolips with an iron fist, Darkseid made it to my list thanks to the animated universe.  Growing up in the 90s he and Apocalypse were the 2 most powerful baddies of my childhood, and Darkseid was always more interesting to me.  His powers are similar to Superman, but he cannot fly and his eye lasers seem to defy all logic.  It is for these reasons he is only number 10 on the list.

9. Green Goblin

What makes the Goblin such a great villain is not his powers, costume, or secret identity...but the fact he enjoys it.  Norman Osborn was a crooked business man until his accident.  Since then he has terrorized New York, murdered countless people, saved the world, controlled the nation's security, destroyed Asgard, and that's just a short list.  The whole time he was doing these things he had to reuse the Goblin formula, meaning deep down he prefers to be the goblin.  But it was Willem Dafoe's amazing performance that puts him on my list.

8. Doctor Doom

Personally; I can't stand the Fantastic Four, but Doctor Doom is a fantastic villain.  Doom is arrogant, powerful, and has diplomatic immunity.  The only issue I have with him is his power set, magic just has too many variables and is often too convenient for me.  Doom was the big bad behind one of my favorite games, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, where he outsmarts every other villain in the game, and he proves why he is one of the planet's greatest threats time and time again.

7. Doomsday

Doomsday will always hold a special place in my heart, the Death of Superman was a big deal when I was young (Yes the event predates me, but it was still a big deal) and Doomsday's design was really cool.  What makes Doomsday a great villain is he isn't a mastermind...he's an animal that happens to be the top of the food chain.  He also reshaped comic books forever, after he killed Superman he set events in motion that led to death becoming inconsequential.

6. Joker

Joker is Batman's greatest villain, he scored so low on my list because as you will see, I clearly have a type when it comes to villains.  Joker is one of the few Batman villains I like, and usually when he gets involved his plans keep me guessing the whole time.  Joker however is the first character on my list that follows the number 1 rule of supervillains; a great villain is the heroes opposite, the other side of the coin.  And the colorful and outrageous Joker is definitely the brooding Bat's opposite.  On a side note, Mark Hamill's voice has been how I imagined Joker sounding since I was 5 years old.

5. Lex Luthor

Lex is a different kind of villain, he believes that what he is doing is right.  Lex feels Superman s a threat to society, and thus must be defeated.  At least that's how it all started, now his motives are a bit more greed oriented.  Another thing that makes Lex a great villain is that everyone knows his real name, yet he is still able to become president of the United States.  Not only does he believe he is in the right, he is able to convince others of this as well.  And just look at that image, can you imagine that in the next Man of Steel/Batman movie?  It would be amazing.

4. Magneto

Another villain who believes he is right, Magneto is a terrorist that feels in order for his kind to survive he must destroy the rest of humanity.  This puts him at odds with his enemies (Though surprisingly never really the Avengers) in his mission.  He has been a revolutionary, a terrorist, a political figure, and a member of the X-Men, though in a twist of irony Magneto has the same mindset as those who subjugated him in his youth, the Nazis.  It's this hypocrisy that only puts him at number 4 on my list.

3. Red Skull

Red Skull is has done something few villains can, he killed his nemesis.  Sure Doomsday killed Superman once, but he also died.  The Skull managed to win and for a while the world without it's greatest hero.  But more than that he was also deemed to dangerous to live once Cap came back.  And to add another accomplishment, Red Skull is so evil, other villains refuse to work with him.  Instead he uses his own very small list of accomplices.  In recent days Skull has been brought back in the form of a clone, exhumed the body of Charles Xavier, and experimented on it to give himself Xavier's telepathy.  Not only that, but in the most recent story arc he succeeds in destroying the mutant race; forcing the children of Apocalypse to go back in time to stop him.  His track record speaks for itself as to why he earned his spot on the list, but the next 2 are even worse.

2.Ultron

Ultron combines some of my favorite aspects of a supervillain: he believes he is in the right, has the power to back up his threats, he was inadvertently created by his nemesis, and he is brilliant.  The best part of Ultron is not if he will destroy mankind, but when.  Ultron is always upgrading himself, and the Avengers know, or knew rather, that he would eventually become too much for them to handle.  The recent event Age of Ultron was all about this and the heroes were only able to stop him once and for all with time travel.  But he is also very limited, and even at his best he could only take 1 planet.

1.Brainiac

Brainiac has never appeared the same for very long.  He had an extremely inconsistent origin story, that is until the New Krypton story and it was revealed there was a reason for this; none of them were the real Brainiac.  Brainiac collects cities, and there is speculation that he is responsible for Krypton's destruction.  Which means he also destroyed every other planet who's cities he has taken.  This gives him a death toll somewhere in the trillion...with a "T".  Brainiac has been in my mind the greatest villain since the first episode of the animated series.  And if the speculation about him destroying Krypton is true (we'll never know thanks to the new 52), then he manages to have created the most powerful and iconic hero of all time.

Well that's my list, if you have one feel free to post it, or if you have any other comments you want to leave.

Top 10: E3 2013

If you don't know already, E3 was last week.  I fully intended to post this last Friday, however circumstances prevented this so I am posting it now.  This list is the top ten games that were shown at E3.  As you read this I want you to know this is all based on my opinion, and there were many other games that almost made the list but didn't.  So without any further delay here is the list.

10. The Order: 1886

What is The Order?  From what I can tell from the trailer it is a game that takes place in an alternate history, 1886 to be precise.  In the trailer we see a Steampunk looking past and weapons that came out of science fiction.  But what is the point of all of this?  To hunt monsters that's what.  The trailer makes it clear that you kill werewolves at least, if this evolves into killing other supernatural creatures I will be even more excited for this game.  This game however I feel makes the list more because of its premise and not necessarily how amazing it looks.

9. Destiny

I know what you're all thinking; why is this so low on the list?  Well to be honest it was higher up until the gameplay demo Monday night.  Personally I am just not a fan of the MMO style gaming this is shaping up to be.  Of course I'll probably still buy it, since both of my brothers plan on getting it and PS4s this may be the game that keeps us gaming together once the 360 finally dies.  Until then I  don't plan on getting this one as soon as it releases.

8. The Last of Us

This one got pushed down because it was already released.  I haven't bought it yet because I wanted to finish my backlog first, but rest assured it will make it to my library very soon.  As a huge fan of the Uncharted series I feel an obligation to get this one.  Plus my brother wants me to buy it soon so he can play it because he doesn't own a PS3, and since I'm only home for the summer that puts a time frame on him.

7. Arkham Origins

This is the game that got moved ahead after I bumped the last two.  I am a huge fan of the Arkham franchise and have finished both of them 100%.  I wasn't excited for Origins at first because it was a cheap ploy to reuse Joker after killing him off, seriously let him just stay dead, Batman has other villains guys.  But as more information came out I slowly became more excited for this one.  Especially after it was announce you could play as Deathstroke, and then even more so at E3 when Adam West became an unlockable costume.  Chances are I will get this one, and it will hold me over until the Christmas break when I have to get another game on this list.

6. Halo 5

This game made the list for one simple reason, I am a huge fan of the Halo franchise.  However this game is particularly a sad entry because I have no intention of buying it, at least not unless Microsoft gets their head out of their ass and realize the Xbox One needs to be fixed.  Since this game releases a year after the Xbox One I hope that happens, otherwise it will just be a series that will fade away, never to grace my library again.  Which is really unfortunate since I bought the original Xbox and the 360 specifically for the Halo franchise, and have been a loyal fan since the beginning.

5. Titanfall

Yet another sad entry into this list.  This one is sad because it is the last 360 game I plan to buy, effectively killing off the console in my mind.  The point of this game is massive scale battles where players run around on foot or in giant mechs called Titans to complete objectives.  I'm a little worried for this one since it sounds like it is only a multiplayer game, and I personally dislike online gaming.  But lets hope that there is also a campaign mode and this one can stay at number 5.

4. Infamous Second Son

I got the first two Infamous games as a birthday present after I finally bought a PS3.  And I must admit I was hooked.  The new game has a new hero with new powers, and actually seems more my style of character as opposed to Cole from the last two games.  This one also takes place in Seattle, a city I spent a lot of my youth in, and to this day dislike going to.  I intend for this one to be one of the first games I get for the PS4, and transition me into the new generation of consoles.

3. Beyond: Two Souls

I was blown away by this one at last year's E3, and I even intended to wait to buy it until I had the funds to get it on PS4.  But then I learned it wasn't going to be on PS4, but the PS3 I already own.  Thus this will be my winter break game until I beat it and am inevitably forced to get another one to keep from getting bored.  When the game was announced last year I immediately when out and bought the game that the studio made before it, Heavy Rain, and if this is anything like that one then I plan on enjoying every minute of it.

2. Watch_Dogs

This game was the clear winner at E3 2012, and a year later, it almost was again.  In fact the only reason it wasn't was because at the last minute Sony announced a game I have been waiting for for almost 8 years, but more on that later.  Watch_Dogs allows the player to have full access of the electrical grid for a city.  Not only that but the main character uses this to be a vigilante in said town.  To top it all off the game has a free-running element similar to Assassin's Creed.  So to recap, it's a sci-fi action game where you have power over the city itself to be a superhero.  This game might as well be called; Scott, We made this game specifically for you.  This is the first game I plan to buy for the PS4, and I have already started setting aside money in order to get it as soon as possible.

1. Kingdom Hearts III

This one needs a little context in order for you all to understand why it's number 1.  Kingdom Hearts was the first game I bought on the PS2, and I was instantly hooked.  It combined all the Disney characters I grew up with and loved as a child, with my favorite game series Final Fantasy.  It was the perfect game for a 12 year old me.  By the time the second one came out it was easily my favorite game series of all time; combining the RPG elements I love, with an action style gameplay, and some beloved characters from the past just for good measure.  But then I had to wait for the third game that was promised.  So I waited, and waited, and I put up with the crap side games, the good prequel, and finally the good 3DS successor.  But still no Kingdom Hearts 3.  This was the game I actually bought the PS3 to own, and now it looks like it is finally happening.  It doesn't matter to me which console gets this one, I'm gonna buy it, I've played since the beginning, and I intend to keep going until the end.

Do you have a comment about my list?  or simply have a list of your own.  If so please feel free to leave a comment below.

Top 10: Science Fiction into Science Fact

I'm not totally sure how to classify this post, but here it goes.  Over the years fiction has influenced real life almost as much as real life influences fiction.  However real world advancements seem to be far more rapid than there fictional counterparts, leading me to believe that in a few short years we may potentially laugh at science fiction epics such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Bladerunner, and Alien because they'll be outdated.  So here is a list of my top 10 science fiction contributions to the real world.  Sadly I can't actually rank these so there is no real order, just assume I like them all equally.

1) Tablet Computer

The Tablet Computer is extremely common in today's world, and they are getting to the point where a regular computer is becoming obsolete.  However a little known fact is that they were in Sci-Fi as far back as the 1960s.  The image above is an example of one in Star Trek, this is one of those instances we can laugh at the horrible technology.  The series takes place almost 200 years from now, and when it first aired the technology was amazing.  Then in 2002 Bill Gates unveiled the first tablet computer, and nobody cared because the technology wasn't ready yet.  But in 2010 Steve Jobs announced the same idea, on a far more capable system and everyone went nuts for it.  Even more recently in 2012 Microsoft announced a tablet that used the same Operating System as their laptops/desktops.  Thus the shift is almost done and soon I believe all computers will be tablet sized.

2) Personal Communicator

Another gift from Star Trek, and again it's laughable by today's standards.  The personal communication device became today's cell phone.  and in a few short years it went from unnecessary and useless to something we can't live without.  Cell phones today have become smartphones, and are capable of far more than anything imaginable when they first started out.

3) Robots

Robots have been in fiction since the Iliad in ancient Greek literature.  Modern robots in reality are not quite on par with fictional greats like R2-D2, or Bishop, but they are improving.  Japan currently has robots that look human, and the military uses them for many tasks that will eventually make human soldiers obsolete.  In fact even planes have autopilot, and cars are being made by Google to do the same.  However today's are still clunky and as far as I've seen not really capable of fluid movement.  I feel in the next decade or two this will change, with personal robot servants possibly becoming a reality in my lifetime.

4) Artificial Intelligence

This is a unique entry.  Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is worked on in bursts.  Today machines can do all sorts of things, including answer voice commands, but they haven't advanced as fast as other technologies today.  I think this may actually be because of Science Fiction always depicting AI a the downfall of humanity.  Either that or the fact that currently we are exploiting the commercial use of simple AI rather than making them complex.  So we are suffering because companies are too greedy to combine multiple AI systems.

5) Motion Control

From the Eye Toy to the Kinect, Motion control is mostly associated with video games.  However this has practical applications as well.  Though to be honest I feel this one has almost reached its maximum potential.  I can't say much here because it is rather self explanatory.

6) Flat Screens

Oh Flat screens, I remember a time when televisions were massive box like things that weighed way too damn much for their size, plus the largest you could get was maybe 50 inches.  Now we have screens that are over 70 inches that weigh maybe 5 pounds.  The televisions of today take up no space at all and can even be mounted onto walls like a picture frame.  They also are more affordable and far healthier to look at than the old CRT screens.  Though again, there isn't much more we can do with this technology, it could get a little thinner, but that's about it.

7) Virtual Reality

I realize we are years from The Matrix, but we do have virtual reality in today's world.  For the most part it is used for video games, but it also has practical uses, such as training our military.  However I do want a matrix like interface before I die.  More specifically I want the ability to download knowledge and skills directly into my brain.  Though I would enjoy a fantasy world where I can do anything.  But to be honest with all the other items on this list I feel this one would end up becoming useless before it ever becomes useful.

8) Nanobots

Nanobots are tiny microscopic machines that do a full range of tasks.  What I want here is for a machine army that can be inserted into the blood to regulate the body.  This means the end of disease, a cure for cancer, and repairing damaged tissue.  I don't want immortality, but a longer lifespan would be awesome, and even better would be a longer lifespan that included no disease or deterioration.  Today these are still in development, and nowhere near ready for what is wanted.  But we are on track for it to become a reality eventually.

9) Head Up Display

The Heads Up Display, or HUD is common in video games, however it also appears in movies as well.  And now we are seeing it in real life.  For now its fairly basic, however the University of Washington is working on making it into a contact lens that can monitor all sorts of things.  Once this is done the technology basically peaks.  But imagine a GPS that you never had to look away from the road for, or a shopping list that that highlighted objects in a store for you.  These are simply a few practical uses.  Even though the technology is extremely basic, the possibilities are near endless.

10) Space Travel

In 1912 Edgar Rice Burroughs created a world that led to the modern Science Fiction.  This is the first real time space travel appeared in fiction.  Sure looking back now how he managed it is ridiculous, but you have to remember at that time planes weren't even a real thing yet.  Fast forward to 2013 and we've been to the moon.  This is actually kinda sad if you think about it, we went to the moon almost 60 years ago, and that's as far as we got.  Making this quite possibly the slowest moving technology on the list.  We are decades if not even centuries away to the age of space exploration that is the staple of most science fiction.  Which is unfortunate because Lost in Space promised this would happen in the year 1997, and considering we surpassed everything else on the list by decades it feels kind of disappointing that the one thing we should of had almost 20 years ago is still the farthest from reality.

Well that's my list.  I realize rockets, submarines, and cloning also came from science fiction, but this is my top 10, not all things inspired from science fiction.  If you have a comment or your favorite item didn't make the list, feel free to leave a comment below.

Top 10: Buffy/Angel Characters

One thing Joss Whedon is exceptionally good at is character development and writing.  So to celebrate that I wanted to dive into his characters, so I broke it down to his longest running series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and its spin-off Angel.  Before we begin I want to start with a Spoiler Warning, since these characters developed over years and some are tied to major plot points I don't want to ruin the series for anyone.

10) Xander Harris

Xander barely made it onto this list, and he did so for one reason, he lived longer than my number 11, and they both had the same role.  Xander was the only normal human with the Scoobies by season 7.  Which meant as the show developed he watched as everyone he knew became more and he was helpless to change it.  Xander was the heart of the team, the one who kept them where they needed to be and despite his limitations he was willing to lay down his life over and over again to save his friends.  By the end of season 7 he lost an eye fighting against someone who clearly outmatched him, yet he still returned for the final battle against evil to save the world.  He was also the only one who was skeptical of Angel and Spike joining the group.

9) Illyria

Illyria is the only pure blood demon to fight on the side of good.  However this is because of a mutual understanding rather than her being a good guy.  Illyria is stuck in the body of Fred, a girl everyone liked, thus adding tension between Illyria and everyone else.  The twist is Illyria doesn't want to be, she was summoned by one of her followers and is now unable to return home.  She also has almost Godlike powers, but again these are restrained due to the body she is stuck in.  Then there is how she understands the world around her, in short she doesn't.  She has only been in the mortal realm for a few months by the end of the show and has to discover everything that everyone else already knows.  This all adds up to make a character the viewer feels sorry for.

8) Faith

If someone were to ask you to describe a female vampire slayer, Faith is probably what you come up with.  Faith's watcher was killed by a vampire early in her career, leaving her all alone.  She is ruthless, violent, and lives each day as though it were her last.  In season four she suffers a minor psychotic break and goes evil, but again this is what you would expect from a girl who was bred to hunt monsters and doesn't have the support group Buffy has.  She later saw the errors of her way and Angel rehabilitated her, she now is a part of the Slayer organization.

7) Fred

There's no getting around it, Fred is awesome.  When she is introduced she is a wild girl living in a cave in a parallel universe.  When she returns to civilization she is still insane and living in the hotel owned by Angel.  Eventually she regains her mind and becomes the head science person.  This is when she is murdered, but not just regular murdered, her soul is destroyed to make room for the demon Illyria.  The only thing I didn't like about her is the period of time she dated Gunn, not because I disliked him, but I just felt they were a bad pairing, she eventually realizes this and ends up with Wesley before she dies.

6) Wesley

Speaking of Wesley, when this guy was first introduced he was Watchers' Council's replacement for Giles.  However he allows Giles to remain because he sees the benefit of his experience, making it impossible to hate him.  Then when Angel started he got far more development as a comic relief character who acted as the researcher for Team Angel.  But then around season four he falls apart.  After doing what he believed was the right thing with Angel's Son Conner, he was kicked out of the group and he became a far darker person.  Even when he returned to Angel Investigation he wasn't the same man, but he did resemble himself again.  Wesley is the only person in this series to ever kill a demon with a gun, seriously nobody else pulled it off.  Wesley died in the last episode of Angel during the final assault on the Council of Black Thorn and was avenged by Illyria, as the only one who treated her like a person she felt a connection, and as Wesley died in her arms she took the form of Fred.

5) Lorne

Lorne is a unique character, he's a demon from another dimension who left because he discovered music.  Lorne has the power to read people's fortunes after hearing them sing to him, and for a while he owned a karaoke bar that as a running gag kept getting destroyed because of Angel.  He acts as a sort of guide to the team and the conscience in the last season.  In the after the fall series he was one of the Demon Lords of LA and turned his domain into a sanctuary.  Lorne is the only member of Angel Investigation who never compromised his values for a goal.

4) Anya

Anya was once jokingly described as the perfect woman, well to be honest I have to agree.  Anya is a former vengeance demon who lost her powers at the hands of the Scoobies.  She then started a relationship with with Xander that resulted in a near marriage.  Anya is blunt, which is the best part about her, she speaks her mind at all times and no topic is off limit.  She also has a crippling fear of bunnies that is introduced in a Halloween episode where she dresses as one as the scariest thing she can think of.  After Xander leaves her at the alter she is given her powers back and acts as a vengeance demon until she realizes she doesn't like it anymore.  She dies in the last episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer saving Andrew from the Bringers.

3) Cordelia

Cordelia is the embodiment of the series.  The original idea for the show is that the least likely person fights evil, Buffy started out doing it whereas Cordy had to ease into it more.  When she was introduced she was the stereotypical popular girl, air-headed and self involved with a following of other girls.  But once she learns there is a such thing as monsters she joins the Scoobies uninvited and even loses all her old friends in the process.  Fast forward to Angel season 1 and she is the founder of Angel Investigation and secretary until she decides to take up a sword herself.  She then inherits the visions that Doyle had, and due to her human physiology is forced to choose between the life she always wanted, or becoming part demon to continue saving the people of LA.  Then after that even she ascends and becomes a higher being where she remains the rest of the series.  That is except for one episode in the last season where she returns for the sole purpose of showing Angel he was headed down the wrong path and she corrected him.  Her body then dies and she hasn't been seen since.

2) Angel

Angel wouldn't make the list if it wasn't for his spin-off show, and when he turned evil.  Whenever he was with Buffy he was boring, as was everyone else when they were with her.  However once he got out on his own he was funny, a badass, and all around awesome.  He makes offhand remarks about knowing celebrities in his past that are hilarious.  However Angel does have his complexities.  He was the most feared vampire of all time, terrorizing Europe for almost 200 years, but he was cursed by a Gypsy who put his soul back.  But if he ever has a moment of true happiness he will lose his soul again and become the monster he once was.  There is another prophecy introduced in Angel that stated a vampire with a soul would become human again once his destiny was fulfilled, and it's automatically assumed to be him.  He loses out to my number one choice simply because of how one dimensional he was the whole first season of Buffy.

1) Spike

Spike in a word is amazing.  He starts as a villain who's first act is to kill the previous big bad's legacy.  He and his girlfriend Dru go about simply causing mayhem for the sake of it.  After he is defeated he returns periodically to cause problems with some hair brained scheme.  He was captured by a government agency during one of these plans and implanted with a chip that makes him unable to harm humans, so he joins the Scoobies.  He starts a secret relationship with Buffy where she treats him horribly until he finally leaves for a while, returning with his soul returned.  This makes him the only vampire to chose to have his soul returned.  As he puts it "He knows he's love's bitch, but he's man enough to admit it."  At the end of Buffy he sacrifices himself to save the world by closing the Hellmouth for good.  But he then is resurrected in the final season of Angel acting as the antagonistic rival of Angel within the group.  Spike was the comic relief character who could kick most anyone's ass, even Angel on an occasion.  And that is why he earns the number one spot on my list.

You may have noticed Buffy didn't make the list, its because I think she is a boring character that was done better with other characters in the series.  So do you agree or disagree with my list?  Feel free to post a comment below.
